- Check the objective before entering
Open the journal and verify that the lost-farmer step is actually active. If the quest still points you back to Molly, finish that conversation first.
- Pass the rat gatekeeper area
The clearest player descriptions place the relevant section after the rat gatekeeper, through a passage that can look blocked or sealed. Search every reachable exit instead of following a memorized compass route.
- Use room landmarks
Look closely in rooms with wooden boards, boxes, or crates. One responder described the missing NPC as the only person in that section; another referred to a crate room. These descriptions come from players in one discussion, so they are clues rather than verified coordinates [1].
- Recheck side rooms before leaving
Random or changing layouts make “east, then north” directions unreliable. Clear the visible room edges and doorways on your current layout before assuming the quest is broken.
Should you wait for the weekly reset?
One player reported finding the NPC after a weekly reset, but also said they might simply have missed the room earlier. Other players in the same thread still could not find the farmer after extensive searching. That is not enough evidence to call a reset a fix [1].
This guide does not recommend editing saves, restarting the quest, or advancing a week solely to force a spawn. If the checklist fails, keep the save intact and report the active objective, mine section, in-game week, and a screenshot of the blocked route.

If the farmer still does not appear
Use the game’s Steam Bug Reports forum . Include the installed version where visible, the exact journal text, your mine section, and whether every reachable side room was checked. Do not post account details or private save files publicly.
